This achievement is a testament to his dedication, academic excellence, and commitment to personal growth throughout his high school career.
From his earliest days at Monticello School District, Tripp has consistently demonstrated a passion for learning and a drive to excel. His teachers and peers alike recognize him as a standout student, always striving for the highest standards in both his coursework and extracurricular pursuits. The ACT, a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States, is known for its challenging content and rigorous assessment of students’ readiness for higher education. Scoring a 33 places Tripp well above the national average, opening doors to a wide range of prestigious colleges and scholarship opportunities.
Beyond his academic achievements, Tripp is known for his leadership, integrity, and willingness to help others succeed. He is an active participant in school clubs, community service projects, and extracurricular activities, including but not limited to: Student leadership, Renaissance Team, National Beta Club, National Society of High School Scholars, National Honor Society, football, and weightlifting. He is an accomplished pianist and a member of Pauline Baptist Church, where you can find him playing the keyboards on Wednesday nights for the youth band. As Tripp prepares to graduate, his remarkable ACT score and consistent academic performance set a strong foundation for future success. His accomplishments serve as an inspiration to his classmates and a source of pride for the Monticello School community. Philanthropic is not often a word used to describe the average high school senior, but August’s Hometown Hero, Maggie Fakouri embodies every sense of the word.
Maggie, 18, was raised in Drew County, attends Monticello High School and is the daughter of Michael and Michelle Fakouri. She has two younger brothers, a passion for tennis, and serving her community.
She fell in love with tennis during her freshman year in high school and has been playing ever since.
“I use it as an outlet,” Maggie stated. “I forget everything else and just play. It really brings me joy.”
A few years ago, a tennis tournament was held in Monticello, and the proceeds went to benefit The CALL. Maggie picked up the torch two years ago, and with the help of Crystal Noble, Margo Stevens, and Mia Reginelli, the tournament has stayed alive.
“I really like the message behind The CALL,” Maggie added. “The organization is Christian based and just has a soft spot in my heart.”
Through hosting the benefit tennis tournament, Maggie has learned to step outside her comfort zone and not be intimidated to try new things.
“I wanted to help provide another summer activity for kids in Monticello,” Maggie said. “The tournament can be a competitive outlet for kids in a small town with limited options. This gives the students an opportunity to showcase what they learned during their summer tennis lessons and, it's just kids being physically active and having fun.”
Physical fitness is an important factor in Maggie’s life. When she isn’t on the tennis court, she enjoys spending time at Paradigm Fitness and cheering on the Billies. She is also a part of the student leadership team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Council, the Renaissance team and a member of First Baptist Church.
After she graduates, Maggie plans to attend the University of Arkansas. She is considering several majors.
“I just want people to know that I am always approachable,” Maggie noted. “I hope I leave positivity wherever I go.”
