Monticello School District is located in Drew County, Arkansas. According to the 2013 Census Bureau, the population of the city is 9,827. The Monticello School District consists of Monticello Elementary School (grades K to 2), where the average class size is 16. Monticello Intermediate School (grades 3 to 5), where the average class size is 20. Monticello Middle School (grades 6 to 8), where the average class size is 17. Monticello High School (grades 9 to 12), where the average class size is 17.The total enrollment for Monticello District is 2,056 (K-12) for the 2014-2015 school year.
Monticello Athletics are popular community events; the Monticello High School Football team won the AAA (now AAAA) state championship in 1994 and in 2009; and in 2015 Monticello High School won state championships in boys Basketball, Indoor Track, and Gymnastics. The Monticello High School Band has won the Sweepstakes Award for the past six years, while the MHS Choir and Madrigals earned all Superior 1st Division ratings and Sweepstakes,which is a first for Madrigals, at the STATE CPA. This is the third year running for the choir on this achievement.
