Dear Parents and Patrons of the Monticello School District,
MSD is a progressive district and with the support of the MSD Board of Directors, our parents and community, teachers and staff, we have set high expectations at all levels. Our number one priority is the safety and security of our students and staff. Our goal is to provide a safe environment where students become problem solvers, critical thinkers, and motivated learners. In addition, through high expectations in the classrooms, participation in extra-curricular activities, and volunteering in the community, we are graduating students who are responsible citizens and trustworthy leaders of tomorrow.
MSD has much to celebrate. We ended the year with 99% of the senior class graduating, a decrease in our drop-out rate to 1.8% and a 30% decrease in our college remediation rate. This is an indication that our students are more prepared for success beyond high school than ever, and is a direct result of the efforts of every teacher and staff member. A crucial factor in the success of MSD is the strong parental, community, and MSD Board support.
Monticello Schools have increased the numbers enrolled in AP classes, enrollment at 0EC is at an all-time high, student participation in extra-curricular activities has risen, and to top it off, high academic achievement is the norm for every classroom.
I am so proud and privileged to be the Monticello School District Superintendent.
It truly is great to be a Billie.
Sincerely,
Sandra Lanehart
Superintendent
