Ambassadors
5th grade students apply for the semester. They must have a "C" average
in all subjects and good conduct. They serve as a service group at MIS
and meet weekly for lunch in the staff development. They have jobs they do on
campus and have a fund raiser each semester to purchase
picnic tables for the playground. This group usually puts on a short
original play each semester.
Challenge
Team
Students
are recommended and selected because of poor academic performance. They
meet as a group to talk about study skills and successes they have. They
strive to bring up grades to a "C' average in all subjects. They earn a
chance to play B.U.G. Bingo and win a prize.
Inside out
These
students have parents that have separated or divorces. Parents request
that their child be a part of this group. They meet once a week for
discussions and activities. This is for 6 weeks.
KAPA
Keeping A
Positive Attitude is a group of students that are recommended by
their teacher. They are students that need to improve their attitude
about themselves and others. They meet once a week for 9 weeks.
Problem
Solvers
Problem
Solvers are students that apply for and go through training for peer
meditation. They serve on a problem solving team at lunch recess. This
is for a semester, unless the students is removed by the counselor for
behaviors.
Heroes Club
These are
students who have family members in the military and have been sent to
war. They attend a weekly meeting to talk about their hero and how they
can cope.
