"Being of sound mind, I do hereby leave to Hattie Inez Brooks my claim and the house and its contents, as well as one steadfast horse named Plug and a contemptible cow named Violet."  When orphaned sixteen-year-old Hattie inherits her uncle's Montana homestead, she jumps at the chance to finally have a home of her own.  Hattie must "prove up" the claim, however, by fencing off and cultivating the land within the ten months - or she'll lose everything.  Recipes.
