Freedom Walkers
By Russell Freedman
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her sea, but the Montgomery bus boycott did not start or end there. Lawyers challenged segregation in court; community leaders wrote pamphlets, held rallies, and organized car pools; and thousands of citizens risked their livelihoods to protest. Every one of these activists helped turn the yearlong struggle into a victory. Black-and-white archival photographs. Chapter notes, Bibliography, Index.
