WHIRL Software Applications

From this page you can download Project WHIRL software applications and supporting documents.

Begin the download process by downloading the applications onto your computer. Open the file and it will prompt you to identify the handheld on which you want to install the application. Select the name of your handheld and then HotSync your handheld to your computer.

All supporting documents for each of the applications are grouped with the corresponding application and are in PDF form to be downloaded to your computer; these documents can not be read on your handheld. Data Doers

Data Doers is a handheld application designed to support the creation and use of lab worksheets. Worksheets include: lab title, page name (ID), column headers, data ranges, unit values, and data comparison selections for comparing class data. The data ranges and unit values include a feature to check the data students enter and alert them to any problems with their measurements - data or unit.

HOTQ Boomerang
Boomerang is software for the handheld that allows teachers to produce prompts for students to generate, categorize, and share questions for exploration and reflection in the classroom. Two other applications, Quizzler, QuizzlerMaker, and Gradebook developed by Pocket Mobility, Inc. also support students creating and answering questions.

HI-CE Sketchy
Sketchy is an animation and drawing tool, developed by the Highly-Interactive Computing in Education (HI-CE) group at the University of Michigan, featuring geometric objects, many pen options, and up to 999 frames. A Sketchy animation is an ordered collection of drawings that can be played sequentially.
